Apple iPhone has finally arrived in India; and the current stock is already booked; so iPhone 5 enthusiasts who acted late, will still have to wit for some days. But good thing is, Airtel, the carrier linked to iPhone5, is soon bringing an option to purchase the device on EMI. Although, there are no reverse subsidy plans this time around.
That said, iPhones are data consumption devices (you can say this for iPhone alone), hence when Airtel held simultaneous events this Friday in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, it also offered a 50 per cent discount on postpaid plans. Airtel is offering a 50 per cent discount on postpaid plans, starting from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1000. The plan offers free local minutes, SMSes and 3G data.
The launch saw Airtel issuing stocks of nano-SIM cards at the sales counters, which will be available at all their branded showrooms.
Apple iPhone5 Price in India:
Apple’s latest iPhone, the iPhone 5, has starting price of Rs.45,500 for the 16GB model, followed by a Rs.52,500 32GB model and Rs.59,500 64GB model.
Apple iPhone 5 supports LTE frequencies (4G), but sadly the iPhone5 doesn’t work on Airtel’s 4G LTE network, launched early 2012. Consumers can expect speeds of 1.5-2 mbps (192-256 Kilo Bytes per second) on Airtel’s 3G networks.
Although, Apple devices provide great user experience and are meant for Data usage; in addition any device for 3G will give equivalent or less data speeds, but still it should be understood that, as a iPhone buyer you will be paying for 4G feature, which you will not use.
