Why Akhilesh Yadav shows apathy towards crimes against women ? OR why Akhilesh Yadav shows insensitivity towards crimes against women or women in general ? There are reasons why Akhilesh Yadav behaves that way.
Every now and then Akhilesh Yadav , the CM of Uttar Pradesh, behaves in a manner which many find insensitive towards women. For instance, after the recent Badaun gangrape and murder of two minor girls, when a woman reporter from NDTV questioned Akhilesh about the rising crimes against women in Uttar Pradesh, Yadav put a counter question, asking the reporter — Is she safe in Uttar Pradesh, all this while?
Such a question is not only insensitive, but entirely unnecessary. What do you expect a reporter to ask the CM after such a ghastly act of violence and atrocity on two girls!
Akhilesh Yadav acts this way, because he wants to prove to his party , that he’s strong enough and man enough to lead them. Yes, Akhilesh Yadav may be a young man, but most of the men he leads are in their 60s and 70s. These men have a typical feudal mindset, which believe in the maxim that : Might is Right. Akhilesh yadav may have studied in best of Schools in India or may have taken higher education abroad, but when among these men he can’t show those views for women. Hence when some of his party men with a typical feudal mindset and old school politics of Uttar Pradesh , grin behind the young CM speaking on a sensitive and heart rattling incident of the exploitation and brutal killing of two minors in Katra village in Badaun, the young CM finds no option but to respect their ridiculous behaviour, seeing it necessity to rule the Uttar Pradesh.
Mr. Akhilesh Yadav will need much confidence and conviction to come out of this coterie, who he often refers to as his “Elders”. He will need to know that not everything an elder says or teaches is correct. These elders may be teaching him that showing emotion is not good for a man. But Akhilesh must understand that there are some occasions when showing true emotions is not a sign of weakness. If a man can cry while seeing off his sister or his daughter in her Bidai, then what’s wrong in shedding a tear or two at seeing the pain or imagining the heart wrenching pain of someone else’s daughter or sister. In short, there’s nothing wrong in showing one’s sensitive side to the world. After all being sensitive is also a mark of strength. It’s the mark of a complete man.
PS: It may be true that the Battle between sexes is always on. But are we zombies, who know just one act of fighting. We are humans. Right!
