Apply for Passport in Post Offices in Select States from March 2017

Apply for passports at select post offices in States listed below, from next month.

From mid next month, that’s before 31st March 2017, people in select cities will be able to apply for passports in post offices, said External Affairs Ministry GOI.

Indian States and the Cities where Post Offices will also act as Passport application Offices

In the first phase of the project, passport services will be made available in select post offices in:

  • Rajasthan: Kota, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Jhunjhunu and Jhalawar
  • West Bengal: Asansol, Nadia, North Dinajpur North Kolkata
  • Tamil Nadu: Salem and Vellore
  • Karnataka: Belgaum, Davangere, Hassan, Gulbarga and Mysuru
  • Jharkhand: Deoghar, Jamshedpur and Dhandbad
  • Some other states

NOTE: At present , 89 Passport Seva Kendras (PSK) are operating across the country as extended arms of the 38 Passport Offices.
