Associating Gender to India and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”

In its National Executive Meet recently, BJP, passed a political resolution declaring the reluctance to say “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” as anti-constitutional. How the party arrived at this conclusion?

The party believes that since the Constitution of India defines Bharat as India, hence anyone not saying “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” is doing an anti-constitutional act.

This doesn’t seem a very convincing argument, as no where in the Constitution of India, any gender is accorded to India.

Thus whatever BJP wants the people to believe in, may be something just for the sake for argument.

Hence we can safely assume the resolution as nothing but a political coercion.

To conclude, if someone is adamant to accord a particular gender to India, then India or Bharat could be a male as well. As some people also say Bharat is named after King Bharat.

Tell you, Bharat Mata Ki Jai or any other slogan are the last things we should be fighting upon.
