CBSE introduces Law Curriculum for Classes 11 & 12 from 2014-15 Session
In order to give more traction to those class 11th and 12th students, who plan to pursue Common Law after class 12th; and plan to appear in CLAT(five-year integrated law programme) after +2; the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to introduce Legal Studies as one of the elective subject in classes 11 and 12 from the coming academic year 2014-15.
CBS has decided to introduce the Law Curriculum for Classes 11 & 12 from 2014-15 Session as a pilot project in 200 schools in India and abroad. CBSE affiliated schools will offer this legal studies subject. The students can opt legal studies as one the elective subject along with three other elective subjects and a language.

Under the CBSE Legal Studies curriculum, the students will be taught general Common Law in class 11th and Detailed study on Specific topics like Hindu Law, Muslim Law etc. in class 12th.
The syllabus will be designed in such a manner as to serve even those students in their future life, who don’t take law as their career. Schools are expected to start teaching the subject in class 11 from June 2013 and, as these students move up to class 12 in the academic year 2014-15, the subject will be introduced at that level as well.
