Today I stumbled upon two news items. The news made me thinking.
The one news is about Walmart. The Walmart plans to open 100 more stores in China. Notably , Walmart already has 370 stores across China. The new stores will take this count to 470.
According to Mike Duke, the Chairman and CEO of Walmart, the expansion is for maintaining the growth momentum, which will come from the Chinese Middle Class.
The other news is about State Bank of India, opening a new branch in South Africa.
What made me think?
One, China doesn’t seem to be afraid of Walmart. Why? when China has a no-nonsense approach when it comes to its interests. Two, will natives of South Africa be bitter to SBI? They may be shouting “”Go Back Indians!”.
