What Festivals teach Us? Happy Diwali 2013!

Happy Diwali 2013Festivals and functions are as Happy as our State of Mind. If we’re unhappy inside then no festival can give us the Happiness the festivities are known for. The TV Commercial of Eno antacid, puts it perfectly. When You have uneasiness inside (because of acidity), “Aap Jaise Kahin Gayab Ho Jaate Hain” (As if you vanish somewhere). Internal Unhappiness can be compared to this acidity. A state which makes you unhappy even midst of celebrations.

One of the key reasons for this unhappiness is “Not able to Get something, you always dreamed of”. This deprivation can be: ‘Not getting admission to some prestigious College, Prestigious Job, Life partner, Love of Life, or anything else’.

To you, the thing God deprived you of, seems so big that nothing else the life can offer can make you Happy again.

This is a misplaced belief. And there’s a reason to it.

Amitabh Bachchan once narrated something his father poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan always taught him and his siblings, when they were children. Senior Rai always used to say:

“Agar aapka chaha aapko mil jaaye, To achha. Agar Na Mile, To aur bhi Achha. Kyonki jab aapki chahi cheez aapko nahin milti, tab aapko vah milta hai; Jo ishwar aapke liye Plan karta hai. Aur Ishwar aapke liye kabhi samanya yojna nahin banata, vah aapke liye bemisal yojna banata hai”

(In English this Means: “If you get something you dreamt of, then it is Good. But if you don’t, then it’s even Better. As when you don’t get something you dreamt of, then you get something the God has planned for You. And God doesn’t want average accomplishments for you, God wants the Best For You.”)

Hence, it’s not good to keep revisiting things you didn’t get. Have faith in God, keep working sincerely on new goals and keep moving ahead. Remember, God doesn’t want us to be Unhappy, all we need is to believe in his bigger designs.

What Festivals teach Us? The above lesson. Festivals are time to look inside and see what is stopping us from enriching our lives.
