IGNOU Fruit Vegetable Processing DiplomaThe Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers a range of courses to make youth employable. One such course is a one-year diploma course in food and vegetable processing.

Processing Diploma, also Known as Diploma in Value Added Products from Fruits and Vegetables (DVAPFV) will be open till Monday without late fee and July 31 with late fee.

The IGNOU Diploma in Value Added Products from Fruits and Vegetables (DVAPFV), has been launched in collaboration with the ministry of food processing industries, is aimed at inculcating vocational and entrepreneurial skills to widen employment opportunities, particularly among rural youth and the disadvantaged sections of the society.

In a statement to the media IGNOU said,

“The main objective of the IGNOU Fruit vegetable Processing Diploma programme is to provide the knowledge and skills for minimising the post-harvest losses and production of value added food products. To develop human resource for post harvest management and for primary processing of fruits and vegetables produce at the production areas clusters,”.

IGNOU Fruit vegetable Processing Diploma — IGNOU Diploma in Value Added Products from Fruits and Vegetables (DVAPFV):

Duration of the Programme: One year. The maximum time to complete the course is four years.

Medium of Instruction: English and Hindi.

Course Fee: Rs.12,000.

For candidates from Rural areas and candidates living below poverty line in urban areas, there’s a 50 percent fee concession on submission of valid proof. That’s fee will be Rs 6000.

Eligibility: Graduate, Senior secondary school or Class 10 pass out. Candidates who have passed Bachelor Preparatory Programme (BPP – under IGNOU/OLS mode) from IGNOU can also apply. 10th pass may enroll simultaneously for the BPP and Diploma Programme.

Maximum Age: No bar

How To Apply: Those interested in the course can get the form and prospectus from various regional centres for Rs.200.

NOTE: Just To Clarify, IGNOU is an Open University, which runs Distance learning or Correspondence Courses. Hence it’s not mandatory to attend Classes.

Objectives of IGNOU Fruit vegetable Processing Diploma — IGNOU Diploma in Value Added Products from Fruits and Vegetables (DVAPFV):

Provide the knowledge & skills for minimising the post-harvest losses and production of value added food products,
Develop human resource for post harvest management and for primary processing of fruits and vegetables produce at the production areas/ clusters.

Develop youth as young entrepreneurs for self employment through food processing and associated activities,
Impart knowledge and technical proficiency in:
Procurement of raw materials,
Preparation of value added products,
Prevention of losses in fresh and processed horticulture produce,
Marketing and economical aspects,
Managing small and medium enterprises.
