IIHT will release combined merit list

Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHT), Varanasi, is going to release a combined merit list to fill the left over seats in second counselling, which will be held on July 26.

46 seats out of 65 have already been filled in the first counselling.

Th reason for the seats still remaining vacant is the fact that there were no application from Himachal Pradesh this year> hence 7 seats from HP quota are still vacant. That apart, 10 seats of Maharashtra and 2 seats of Uttarakhand are also vacant. Thus a total of 19 seats are up for second counselling. 57 applicants from Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttar Pradesh will pit for these 19 seats.

Notably, IIHT Varanasi admits candadets from Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh only.

The State-wise seats available are:

Uttarakhand – 5
Himachal Pradesh – 7
Jammu and Kashmir – 7
Bihar – 8
Maharashtra – 13
Uttar Pradesh – 25

There are Five IIHT campuses across the country. IIHT Varanasi, which offers diploma course in handloom and technology and post diploma in textile and printing is one among them. 20 per cent seats from each state’s quota are also reserved for weavers.
