In an important ruling, the Delhi High Court directed the Indian Nursing Council to Accredit IGNOU Nursing Course Centers (IGNOU Centers Running Nursing Course).
The Delhi high court last Friday directed the Indian Nursing Council (INC) to give accreditation to some of IGNOU’s study centers, which earlier were denied for the same, within four weeks so that the students who completed Post Basic B. Sc (Nursing) course from the university would be found eligible to get admission to M. Sc course.
Notably, the order came in response to a batch of petitions filed by a large number of students asserting that they have done the Post Basic B. Sc (Nursing) course from IGNOU centers but were denied admission in M. Sc courses on the ground that their course is not recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
A Big victory:
The Delhi HC has directed the Indian Nursing Council to abide by the order, and grant the necessary permission/NOC to the petitioners for admission to the M. Sc (Nursing) course on the base of Post Basic B. Sc (Nursing) degree awarded to them by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
IGNOU Directed Not to take further admissions to Post Basic B. Sc course until the issue is fully resolved by the council.
In addition, the Hon’ble HC further directed IGNOU to send within the two weeks to the Indian Nursing Council a list of the study centers which are yet to be inspected and approved by the Council.
Clearing its stand on the situation, IGNOU told the Court that it had made payments for the physical inspection of its study centers by the INC members but the Council had inspected only a few of them.
NOTE: Before applying for IGNOU Nursing Course, check the Centre’s accreditation status at Indian Nursing Council.
