Infosys’s new Hyderabad campus, which will accommodate about 62,000 employees; will have 5,000 more jobs by the end of this Calendar year. This will double the number of employees at the 448-acre Pocharam campus. The total headcount at the new campus is expected to be about 14,000 people by March 2013.
The new Pocharam campus in Hyderabad, which went functional last year, is one of the largest facilities being set up by any Indian software company in the country.
Notably, Infosys had promised to provide 25,000 jobs over a period of 10 years when it had signed an MoU with the state government in 2007. The good thing is, the facility is now being built to accommodate as many as 62,000 employees. Phase one of the project, which costed about Rs 980 crore, is expected to be complete by June 2012.
Infosys currently employs close to 20,000 software professionals together in its existing as well as new campuses in Hyderabad. As on December 2011, it had about 145,000 employees over all.
