YSRC Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy sat on an indefinite fast today in opposition to the creation of the new state of Telangana. It’s hard to understand why Hyderabad Politicians (Jagan Mohan Reddy, one among them) are opposing the new state. It’s an accepted fact that politicians will do politics, but politics must at least be positive.
India has more than 125+ crore population. A smaller state means better reach at the masses. That apart, when a state is carved out from a bigger state, the latter does benefit. Funds, Roads, infrastructure, polity, governance, industry everything improves. An excellent example is Uttarakhand. Compared to the time when Uttarakhand was with the Uttar Pradesh, things are better now.
Jagan Mohan Reddy is saying that Congress is doing Politics and the reason for the creation of Telangana is a mother’s wish to see her son as the Country’s PM (Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi). This is trivializing the genuine sentiments of the people of Telangana.
Yes, Congress may have created Telangana for political gains, but that doesn’t make the creation of Telangana wrong.
BJP created Uttarakhand foreseeing its long term political gains. With more than 80 percent of Uttarakhand Population being Upper Caste, BJP saw an opportunity for itself in every election in Uttarakhand. But does that make the creation of Uttarakhand a wrong decision?
The Uttarkhand people are free to vote for any party in any election; and if one looks closely, the kind of Government the state gets now has nothing to do with the creation of Uttarakhand. A small state is always good for the people.
