Centenary Miscellany at Law[UPDATE December 04, 2014: Justice Iyer, an Eminent jurist and former Supreme Court judge, passed away at a private hospital in Kochi around 3.30 p.m. on Thursday. He died due to renal and cardiac failure, hospital sources said. He was hospitalised for a fortnight. Justice Iyer turned 100 a couple of months ago. He was sworn in as the judge of the Supreme Court on July 17, 1973 and retired at the age of 65 on November 14, 1980. May his soul RIP.]

Lawyers do read a lot. After all, much of their success depends on it. But still reading something written by stalwarts of Legal fraternity will always be an opportunity to learn and grow. Supreme Court advocate Fali S Nariman in Kochi yesterday released the book Centenary Miscellany at Law , written by Justice V R Krishna Iyer. The book reflects on the eventful life of the eminent Justice, who is 99.

Justice VR Krishna Iyer was former Supreme Court Chief Justice who is often hailed as a Fearless judge, who never shied away from being frank fearless and rational, said Fali S Nariman. It was justice Iyer who while as a Judge in the Allahabad High Court in 1975, gave the ruling that forfeited Indira Gandhi’s seat in the Lok Sabha.
