Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has committed to a group of former IITians yesterday that he will locate land to set up the proposed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) ahead of his Delhi visit next week. Notably, the CM and some of his cabinet colleagues will visit New Delhi on September 22 – 23 to hold discussions with central Government regarding pending projects of the State, which includes the proposed IIT.
At least 300 acres of land would be required for the new IIT.
The delegation is also expected to present to the Central Government, a concept note highlighting the strong points of the State for getting an IIT.
At present, only Kerala and Karnataka are the two major states which do not have an IIT.
