What makes Dhoni such a match Winner?

Dhoni the Leader… Demystified!

The key to Dhoni’s stellar performances for India, that too in difficult situations, is because of his confidence. A trait, Dhoni expertly got in line with his another trait: Leadership.

MS Dhoni by nature is a Leader. You can call him a born leader.

But the key thing here is, what is working for Dhoni is the combination of the two: Confidence+Leadership

Let I put it Simply:

Humans are complex creatures. They are complex because they have superior Brains. The presence of superior brains means that, we don’t act or behave with a single trait (in hindi “Gun”). We act and behave under the concoction of these traits (in Hindi “in gunon ke Kaadhey ke anusar“).

To succeed in Life, we need to know what Traits cummulatively make for what we are. Or what our basic personality really is.

Often we observe that our quality of speech is different with different groups of people. For instance, a person can be very fluent and articulate with same gender, but not with the opposite gender. OR a person is great at telling stories to people younger to him/her, but can’t utter a single word in front of elders or authority figures like Boss.

People who normally find it difficult to communicate fluently and articulately with Boss or anyone with authority, while at the same time quite brilliant at ordering the people younger to them in age, authority and status; can see a big change in their quality of Life, if they try to bring themselves to authority Positions. The logic here is: Since these people are leaders themselves, they can’t take orders or instructions from others.

In contrast, if your boss, parents, authority figures praise you for flawlessly following their instructions, and performing the tasks assigned brilliantly; then you are a born subordinate. You will be a great follower.

The challenge for any person, is to give a serious thought to what Traits in Totality make him/her.

For Dhoni, the combination is: Leadership + Confidence while in Leadership Position

It’s here important to understand that, chances are if Dhoni wouldn’t be in Leadership position, everything from his communication to his confidence can get negatively affected.

An Exercise:

Take out a writing pad and Write your ten most prominent traits.

Now take out another page and write what you are good at. For instance:

I’m good at communicating with Kids.

OR

I’m Good at communicating with Authority figures.

Make a list of 10 such things you are good at and not particularly good at.

Maybe this will help you in determining what your real personality is. Dhoni has found his, now it’s your time.

PS: A question arises here: What if I, based on my basic traits, aspire for something which puts me into long years of struggle? For instance, I want to be an Officer, or some other authority position. The answer to it is, if the arrangement of bread and butter is made for, then building one’s life towards that goal is not a bad option.

PS: The write-up doesn’t say that you can’t build those traits in you, which currently appear to be absent. The best way to achieve this, by facing your fears. Now a days, there are experts who can help you in that.
