In case you have not received the information, then it’s to inform you that the last date to link your Mobile SIM Card or Mobile number to your Aadhaar number has been extended to February 2018.
If a person fails to link his/her mobile number to his/her Aadhaar number by February 2018, the SIM card will be deactivated.
So now you have still some more months left to get the linking done. It also means that you can get the linking done as per your convenience, and need NOT WORRY every time your Telecom service provider sends you an SMS.
As of now 25 percent of all mobile service subscribers in India have linked their mobile number to their Aadhaar number.
1. As of now, the Supreme Court of India judgement of February 2017 makes the Aadhaar – SIM card linking mandatory for all the citizens of India. The mobile service provider cannot store the Aadhaar, biometrics so collected. In case, the mobile service provider or the Telecom Company stores the biometric data, it will be a criminal offence punishable under the Aadhaar Act 2016.
2. If SIM cards are not linked to Aadhaar by February 2018, the SIM Card will be deactivated.
3. YOU CANNOT link your mobile SIM to Aadhaar ONLINE. The SIM-Aadhaar linking will require a visit to the mobile operator’s service centre.
