“NOTA” is NOT for Confident Voters

There’s much talk about None Of The Above (NOTA) option in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the upcoming Assembly Elections in Delhi, Mizoram, Rajasthan, Madhya pradesh and Lok Sabha Polls 2014.

NOTA allows a voter to choose No candidate. That’s if a voter is unhappy or hopeless with all the candidates contesting; then he/she can press the NOTA button. This is Election Commission’s way of giving people an option to show their displeasure at the quality of candidates.

No matter how benevolent of thoughtful the NOTA button may appear, NOTA is not for confident voters. In most cases it’s for indecisive and always cribbing Indians. Confident voters always exercise a positive choice. If one of your confident friends tells you that he/she is going to opt for NOTA; be assured that he/she will NOT. No one wants their vote to be indecisive.

Hence, if you’re a young man or woman, exercise a positive choice. Choose a candidate who you think is better than the lot. Remember choosing no one is not what is called “Exercising One’s choice”.
