In the Times Now Sunday debate, BJP Leader, a member of Rajya Sabha and national treasurer of Bharatiya Janata Party, Piyush Goyal, turned some facts upside down. Below are they:
BJP never expelled BS Yeddyurappa or He never Quit the BJP
When asked why BJP expelled Yeddyurappa before Karnataka Assembly elections, and why it bring Yeddyurappa back to BJP now? Mr. Goyal cited that BJP had never expelled Yeddyurappa. It was the Yeddyurappa who distanced himself from the BJP. Hence Yeddyurappa coming to BJP is not some re-joining but a continuance of the previous status.
What does this mean? Nothing. It’s simple fact jugglery.
After leaving the BJP or after being compelled to leave the BJP, Yeddyurappa formed his new party in 2012. The party named Karnataka Praja Paksha (KPP) even contested Karnataka Assembly Elections under Yeddyurappa.
Thus whatever be the technical aspect, it’s true that Yeddyurappa left BJP and inflicted some damage to the party in the 2013 Karnataka Assembly Elections. Sensing a future vote loss, BJP wooed Yeddyurappa to rejoin the BJP. After all he is a popular leader of the Lingayat community in Karnataka.
It’s the BJP which Brought Right To Information Act?
What? The Right to Information Act (RTI) was passed by Parliament on 15 June 2005 and came fully into force on 13 October 2005.
In 2005, India had a Congress led UPA Government.
Actually, during BJP led NDA Government at Centre, the Freedom of Information Act, 2002 was enacted. The RTI Act replaced the FIA.
But whatever be the status, Mr. Goyal can’t give credit to his party for enacting RTI. For simple reason that RTI Act came in 2005, when Congress UPA was in power.
[Thanks to Communist Leader Sita Ram Yechuri for correcting Piyush Goyal Thanks to Mr. Yechuri for saving Indian youth from misinformation of Mr. Goyal. ]
If You want to know more about RTI:
The Right to Information Act (RTI) was passed by Parliament on 15 June 2005 and came fully into force on 13 October 2005. In 2005, India had a Congress led UPA Government. RTI is an Act of the Parliament of India “to provide for setting out the practical regime of right to information for citizens” and replaces the erstwhile FIA, 2002. The Act applies to all States and Union Territories of India except the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Under the provisions of the Act, any citizen may request information from a “public authority” (a body of Government or “instrumentality of State”) which is required to reply expeditiously or within thirty days. The Act also requires every public authority to computerise their records for wide dissemination and to proactively publish certain categories of information so that the citizens need minimum recourse to request for information formally. This law Information disclosure in India was restricted by the Official Secrets Act 1923 and various other special laws, which the new RTI Act relaxes.
Mr. Piyush Goyal is a chartered accountant by profession. He was elected to Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra in 2010. He is also the Head of the Information Campaign Committee Cell of the Election Campaign Committee of the BJP, under Narendra Modi. That’s why it’s always a good idea to fact check Narendra Modi, and Piyush Goyal. Else You will mark Chandragupta of Gupta Dynasty as the founder of Maurya Dynasty in Bihar, and lose valuable marks.
PS: Chandragupta Maurya, of Maurya Dynasty founded the Maurya Dynasty.
