Subhas Chandra Bose might be alive after Independence | Netaji Files

If you’re a regular reader here, then you already know my stand on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Netaji Files (the classified files about Subhas Chandra Bose, which are not declassified or are not in public domain).

Now that the West Bengal Government has declassified (made public) 64 of the Netaji Files; then let I share what I really think the truth behind Subhas Chandra Bose’s death might be.

Subhas Chandra Bose might have been alive even after the independence. And much into the freedom years.

Actually, when Netaji started his activities against the British; India was still a British dominion.

Subhas Chandra Bose may be a very intelligent man, someone who had qualified Civil Services examination; but was he wise? Wise enough to take steps which make for a successful person in life.

From his actions, he appears to be lacking much Wisdom. For instance, he tried to contact Hitler, even when Mahatma Gandhi tried to persuade him not to. In addition, he tried to seek help from everyone, who was the enemy of Britain and America. Eg. Japan, Germany etc.

Let aside, what opinion you and I have about Mahatma Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru or INC (Indian National Congress). One of us can have a very poor opinion of these leaders and the party. But, while discussing Subhas Chandra Bose, we should consider what were the repercussions of Subhas Chandra Bose’s behavior and actions at that time (early and mid 40s).

India was still under the Great Britain. Britain and her allies were fighting against Germany & allies. Even Indians fought in these wars. When India was so close at getting Independence, could any Leader in INC afford to go against Great Britain and its allies?

Even today, Great Britain, USA hate Hitler. The man is so despised of in a big part of the World, that people don’t even like to utter his name. And Subhas Chandra Bose tried to seek Hitler’s help!

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose might not have died in the 1945 plane crash; but due to his activities he might have become a controversial figure in the eyes of Britain and her allies. It might be that they had asked for Netaji’s handover to them (as a prisoner of war) for him having any sort of contact with the opponents (Japan, Germany etc.).

India as a newly independent country or a country inching towards independence couldn’t have afforded any enmity with Great Britain or any of its allies. That’s why the Indian leadership of that time might have bargained for Subhas Chandra Bose’s limited freedom. That’s if Britain and its allies let go the demand to hand over him to them; then Subhas Chandra Bose would be made to live in full obscurity (the state of being unknown, inconspicuous, or unimportant).

I have personally felt that, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has been unnecessarily made hazy all these years.

I personally feel that Jawahar Lal Nehru sabotaging Subhas Chandra Bose’s Prime Ministerial aspirations is just a speculation. As going by Subhas Chandra Bose’s actions and his absence from India, from early 1940s, Bose becoming a PM seems remote. Just like today, a bigger leader would have become a PM. And Jawahar Lal Nehru at that time was much bigger than Subhas. Simply because the former was in touch with the masses in India.

I welcome the declassification of the Netaji files. May be it will remove the unnecessary mist from Netaji’s life. It will also help the Nation focus on real issues, not the emotional ones, which always come up every time some elections are taking place in any part of the country. BJP should not oppose the declassification now; as making public of these files will help end rumors about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s Death & Life.

I welcome Congress’s demand to declassify all Netaji Files. Although I agree with Congress’s view that files are classified keeping in view any possibility of social unrest; still I welcome the declassification; as it will start a trend of declassification. Ideally BJP shouldn’t have demanded declassification of such files, when it was not in power. Now demand to declassify other files will also be made.
