Recently Chinese Smartphone maker OnePlus launched two smartphones, OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T, the latter is the scaled up version of OnePlus 5.
If rumors are to be believed then the Smartphone maker is launching a new smartphone with under-display fingerprint sensor, as early as March 2018. If it gets any delayed then it will be June 2018.
Notably, Smartphone makers seem to be testing with the location of the fingerprint sensor on the device. It’s being reported that major smartphone makers want to put the finger print sensor on the front.
Interestingly, with OnePlus 5T which has the facial recognition feature, the brand shifted the fingerprint sensor from front to back. The OnePlus 5 would soon be getting the face unlock feature.
Carl Pei, OnePlus co-founder, recently tweeted,
“Due to popular demand, Face Unlock is coming for the OnePlus 5. Thanks for the feedback, and merry Christmas!”
If the next OnePlus smartphone is going to have an under-display fingerprint sensor then it also seems probable that the device would run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. It’s a common talk that both Qualcomm and Snaptics are reportedly working on under-display fingerprint sensor. This also explains why we will see different smartphone makers putting their fingerprint scanners under the display.
Regarding price, the upcoming smartphone will be around the same price bracket as OnePlus 5T, Rs 32,999, the OnePlus 5T comes with up to 8GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor.
